The Ossa Process
The cornerstone of our business
Being a certified Bcorp, sustainability lies at the heart our business. Our entire range is made locally and 100% British sourced. We slow cook our broths and hand clarify our Ghee on our organic farm in Worcestershire. We are also recipient honorees of the Bcorp Best for the World award in 2018 and 2019.
The importance of product lifecycle
Upcycling and recycling are powerful ways we can help our environment heal. At Ossa our production process is sustainable and cyclical. This allows us to use bones that would otherwise be incinerated (contributing to carbon footprint) and upcycle them to make nourishing and restorative broth. We hand clarify our ghee in small batches and hand render our organic tallow. We feed waste back to the grid and use a biomass boiler and renewable energy. We are proud of our process and it continues to be the cornerstone of our business. At Ossa we aim to be not the best in the world but the best for the world!
B Corp Certified
Using business as a force for good
Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
Always looking to improve
Accountability and sustainability is at the heart of the Ossa vision.
One of our first initiatives as a business was to become a B Corporation, an international collective of businesses that balances purpose and profit and consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.
We became a registered B Corp within the second year of trading and were awarded B Corp’s “Best for Environment” honouree for our all sustainable supply chain.
At Ossa we are proud of our all sustainable supply chain, using only premium local and organic ingredients and we are thrilled to be featured alongside other likeminded companies.
Soil Association
The provenance of ingredients
We source only British, Soil Association certified ingredients for our range. Our foods can only ever be as good as the products we put in them. Our recipes are then cooked in the traditional way - no processing, no corner cutting.
A symbol of trust
All organic food sold in the EU has to be certified by registered certification bodies. Soil Association Certification Limited is the UK’s largest and oldest organic certification body, licensing over 70% of the organic food on sale here. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Soil Association charity.
